I'm happy to announce that, after almost a year of self-study, I have completed Workplace Connections' Skills for Success Practitioner and Relational Skills Trainer programs! š
This relates to the value of investing in your #professionalĀ #development, my 11th Idea for 2025! š”
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, itās easy to let the demands of our schedules overshadow the importance of continual learning and professional development.
I had the privilege of being recommended to participate by Teca Cameron-TackieĀ in this training/Train the Trainer program focused on Skills for Success and Relational Skills, funded by the Government of Canada. šØš¦
This program encompasses essential competencies such as:
#CreativityĀ and #Innovation
These skills were integrated into a comprehensive Practitioner Competency Framework, which included Universal Competencies that inform our professional endeavours and support interpersonal interactions, as well as Strategic Competence and Functional skills necessary for delivering organizational success.
The journey was both rigorous and rewarding. It involved a comprehensive self-study process, including a variety of online instructional modules, numerous homework assignments, insightful readings, two multiple-choice exams, and the design and delivery of three training sessions!
I had to accelerate my efforts in January to meet the one-year deadline, but the support from colleagues at Workplace ConnectionsĀ Ā made all the difference. š
This experience not only enriched my understanding of training and development but also enhanced my facilitation skills.
The Skills for Success and Relational Skills programs encouraged me to develop my capacities in:
š”Ā Emotional Intelligence
š¤Ā Social Intelligence
šĀ Situational Awareness
šÆĀ Vision
šĀ Systems Thinking
šĀ Project Management
and more!
Reflecting on this journey has renewed my sense of purpose and vocation. It has also provided me with valuable insights into the potential efficacies and challenges of distance learning.
I encourage everyone to prioritize your professional development, even amidst competing priorities. The investment in your growth pays dividends in both your career and personal fulfillment. š
